What is PRP Therapy?
PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. Platelets are blood cells that are responsible for the natural healing process in the body. Their main role is to perform damage control where they race to the site of injury (cuts in the blood vessels) and form a clot to seal the damage and prevent excessive blood loss. In addition to this, they begin to secrete large quantities of proteins (growth factors) to initiate the tissue healing process to repair the damage.
This natural wound healing process is what we intend to replicate through platelet rich plasma therapy. The platelets will be extracted from your blood, concentrated and isolated before they are reintroduced into the body. In high concentrations, the activated platelets will secrete the necessary growth factors to repair and rejuvenate the target area into which it is administered. This treatment is associated with no risk of allergy or infections as we are essentially using your own by-product.
